Today, I bought a USB keyboard to use with my eeePC, when I have to type a lot. When I turned over the carton, I was quite stunned. There were 3 compatibility logos. One for Windows XP and one for Windows Vista. But the third one didn't display any fruit. Instead, there was that fat, snugly penguin we love so much!

OK, that's not the biggest sensation of the year, but it says something about the role, Linux plays in the market today.

A few weeks ago I got one of those tiny eeePCs. I also got a USB GPS receiver and a car charger, because one of the primary use cases for me will be car navigation and GPS tracking. For that purpose I will be building packages of map drawing and GPS utilizing software. Read on, if you're interested in the first two packages (Navit and Marble) and in how to install them.

American scientists made one of the biggest discoveries on the way to understanding ourselves in the last 20 years.

The long standing mystery of why the human body develops a fever when it's ill, has finally be solved. In an interdisciplinary effort by medical doctors and physicists it was discovered, that the human immunesystem is exothermic. When an antibody-cell encounters a body-cell, a cancellation happens and two quantums of energy are emitted. If the particular infection leads to a large count of antibody cells, this results in a large amount of cancellations and in turn in lots of energy, that heats up the body.

What a great day for humanity!

Lately, tech media is reporting about trojans, that manipulate the victims DNS configuration and that way allow phishing attacks without URI manipulation. With things like that in mind, I guess you'd not love it, if your network equipment would send your possibly sensitive data to the wrong target. But that's exactly, what a friends DSL router does.
Continue reading "Twist and Shout! This blog will contain some random stuff that does not really matter... but, well, hopefully will either help or at least amuse you.
