Running the eeePC OS within VirtualBox

Today, I bought a USB keyboard to use with my eeePC, when I have to type a lot. When I turned over the carton, I was quite stunned. There were 3 compatibility logos. One for Windows XP and one for Windows Vista. But the third one didn't display any fruit. Instead, there was that fat, snugly penguin we love so much!

OK, that's not the biggest sensation of the year, but it says something about the role, Linux plays in the market today.

Marble running in fullscreen on the eeePC

A few weeks ago I got one of those tiny eeePCs. I also got a USB GPS receiver and a car charger, because one of the primary use cases for me will be car navigation and GPS tracking. For that purpose I will be building packages of map drawing and GPS utilizing software. Read on, if you're interested in the first two packages (Navit and Marble) and in how to install them.
