IG2 auf meinem Laptop
Installation:
1. Die IG2 CDs installieren.
2. Den offiziellen Patch 1.06 installieren. (den gibt es hier)
3. Den offiziellen Patch 1.08 installieren. (den gibt es hier)
4. Den Fan-Patch 1.14 installieren. (den gibt es hier)
Der Fan-Patch ist absolut notwendig um Imperium Galactica II unter Windows XP zu spielen.
Lies auf jedenfall das readme, das dabei ist.
Setup:
Wenn du einen 4:3 Monitor hast, kannst du einfach die setup.exe ausführen und die Auflösung auf 1024x768x16 einstellen.
Wenn du einen Breitbild-Monitor hast wird es ein wenig komplizierter.
AUF KEINEN FALL DIE SETUP.EXE AUSFÜHREN! DAS FÜHRT ZUM ABSTURZ VON WINDOWS!
Anstatt dessen, öffne den Ordner in den du das Spiel installiert hast und erstelle eine einfache Textdatei (.txt).
Ändere ihren Namen in ig2.ini und öffne sie.
Kopiere und füge folgenden Text in die ig2.ini ein:
In diesem Beispiel ist mein Sound Treiber SigmaTel Audio. Du musst herausfinden wie deiner heißt. Öffne dazu Sounds und Audiogeräte in der Systemsteuerung und klick auf die Registerkarte Audio.
Der Name den du brauchst steht als Standardgerät unter dem Punkt Soundwiedergabe. Schreibe diesen Namen einfach ab und ersetze damit SigmaTel Audio in der ig2.ini.
Speicher und schließe die Datei.
Start:
Das wird wieder etwas aufwändig.
Versuch 1: Starte Imperium Galactica in dem Du einfach die ig2.exe anklickst.
Um auszuprobieren ob es wirklich funktioniert versuch ein Spiel zu starten. Zum Beispiel Einzelspieler \ Szenario \ Scharmützel. Wenn das nicht funktioniert, versuch das nächste.
Versuch 2: Klicke mit der rechten Maustaste auf die ig2.exe und wähle Eigenschaften. Öffne die Registerkarte Kompatibilität und wähle den Kompatibilitätsmodus für Windows 98.
Klick ok und starte das Spiel. (Versuch wieder ein Szenario zu starten)
Versuch 3 und 4: Mach alles genau so wie bei 1 und 2, diesmal jedoch mit der ig2nt.exe.
Ein paar weitere Tipps...
Mehrspieler Netzwerk Spiele:
Das Spiel hat vier CDs. Zum Glück braucht man für eine IG2 Mehrspieler-Partie nur IRGENDEINE dieser CDs! Dadurch kannst du die drei anderen CDs deinen Freunden geben.
Um eine Netzwerkverbindung zu ermöglichen stell bitte absolut sicher, daß die Windows Firewall deaktiviert ist.
Zusätzliche Einstellungen für Breitbild-Monitore:
Das Spiel ist 4:3. Um es spielen zu können ohne, daß es auf 16:10 gestreckt wird, öffne die Konfiguration für deinen Grafiktreiber und wähle unter Anzeige \ Flachbildschirm-Skalierung ändern die Option Skalierung mit festem Seitenverhältnis aus.
(die Beschreibung ist für das NVIDIA Control Panel - aber dein Grafiktreiber sollte diese Einstellmöglichkeiten auch haben)
Und nun, endlich, wünsche ich dir viel Spaß bei dem Spiel!
Falls du nach wie vor Probleme haben solltest IG2 zum laufen zu bekommen, bin ich mir sicher, daß ich dir nicht helfen kann.

Maybe i could get some help here. I got the game, to almost work from start without patches at all. When i install the patches, its exactly the same for me as without them. I get the same error, time after time, after time. sounds_groundwar.dat Is causing the game to crash. It only crashes when there is a groundwar overrun, where you see the fighting on the ground. Else it works perfectly for me. It says: Decompress error loading from data\sounds_groundwar.dat Generate exeption? i click yes. Then comes: Unhandled exeption at 0x5230B1 i click ok. Then comes: Dear player, our program performed an illegal operation,and will be terminated. The game has been saved to the last slot. I click try again, and i end up in game again, with the enemy fleet on my planet, and when i go down to the planet again, F3 then the error happends again. If i dont go down, on the planet anymore, then the game continues to work. lol I think the groundwar.dat file maybe corrupted, but i tried reinstall several times, and its the same and only error each time. It comes randomly, some fights it works, then suddenly a fight the error comes. Anyone of you experienced, the same error? Any sugestions on what to do? Any of u got another groundwar.dat file, that works you could email me? Thanks in advance. TJ

o_O Well, that sounds really strange. No fix, but making it playable again: turn off the groundwars.

Same here on vista home premium. the command console the game uses can only support so many / well Thedric sense using pages for example. the ground battles take up about the most of their limited sourced page. When any source attempts to pull from another then the command line reference depends an illegal fault within the service and then closes the service. Or the page fault crashes two into one another and cannot depend them apart from the other. with my fault occurs after about the second attempt the service/game closes. After about the third restart of the game it tends to work or tries. Usually. The cause (process fault) is the main culprit here and also can indicate a memory problem within the system services. If occurs often or if not, all the time. I.E. reference msconfig. Services/ The most common Video or audio card errors /Depends. With your system solution differs.

Mhm. That is strange. Make sure really all patchs are installed correctly! Well, I'm sure you did that - but I got it to run on multiple different computers following these instructions here.

High guys! Does anyone know why the 1280x1024 screen mode has not been fixed in the 1.14 patch? In that mode (sort of double the 640x480) several 2D look pretty good in comparison to intermediate modes (let alone it's a larger mode...). I was wondering whether it will be fixed sometime... It would look so cool...

Well... 1.14 is 'just' a fan patch. But you could try larger resolutions - maybe they work for you (on your system). I can just tell that my game/pc crashed nearly 80-90% of the time I ran other resolutions than 1024x768.

Help!!! I played IG1 when I was younger and loved it. I bought IG2 today from a bookstore and I cannot get it to install on my computer. I have Windows Vista. I tried changing the capability mode to window 98 (and others) but when I try to install it does nothing?
